Denyque ‘R.E.A.D.Y’ for hip... | Hapilos
Jamaican artiste Denyque has ventured into the hip-hop/rap scene and is threatening to create waves akin to tsunamis.
The dancehall entertainer made a surprise midnight drop of her EP, R.E.A.D.Y (Release Everything And Do You), last Friday.
Within four hours after the drop, R.E.A.D.Y was featured on Spotify, amassing over 16,000 streams by 10 a.m. and securing spots on 25 hip-hop playlists.
The EP made an impressive debut, claiming the 26th position on the iTunes Hip-Hop/Rap charts before 6 p.m.
Denyque and her team were elated by these accomplishments. The daring singer, known for her talent and fearlessness in exploring unconventional paths, was interviewed by Dr Empress Rose on the 1-on-1 music review show at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. The live preview of songs from the EP on YouTube contributed to Denyque's ascent on the charts, reaching the 14th position by the end of the night, surpassing Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday 2 (Gag City Deluxe) album.
Although breaking into the top 10 would have been a dream for the first Jamaican female R&B singer to achieve such a feat in hip-hop, Denyque is content with her current career milestone. Four out of the five songs on the EP -- Ease My Mind, Long Way Down, Make A Wish, and Between Me And You -- have also charted, securing positions in the Top 200 Hip-Hop/Rap singles chart.
The five-track EP was produced by Levels To Life Productions in collaboration with Lee Milla Productions and Denyque's own Denym Entertainment label. Other producers include Emudio Records and ThatBossEvan
