For the third consecutive month, lyrical powerhouse Vybz Kartel retained the top spot on digital giants Hapilos Top 5 Monthly Reggae Album Chart with his album ‘Born Fi Dis’. Vybz Kartel is no newcomer to chart dominance. Over the past two decades, the undisputed boss of dancehall has consistently proven his iconic lyrical capabilities, flow, and delivery.
His album ‘Born fi Dis’ released in August 2021 has created waves both locally and internationally. Co-produced by Short Bozz Music, the record label led by his longtime girlfriend, Tanesha ‘Shorty’ Johnson featuring tracks such as ‘Air Force’ with his prodigies, Aikodon, Likkle Addi and Likkle Vybz, and ‘Money Over Love’ featuring Sikka Rymes to name a few.
Along with the success of ‘Born Fi Dis’, newcomers, ‘Different Levels Riddim’ and ‘The Passport Riddim’ graced the top 5 charts for the first time. While ‘My Letter to you Riddim’ and ‘Street Shots 2021: Garrison Anthems’ both moved down one spot to consistently secure their spot for the past two months.
‘Different Levels Riddim’, an eighteen-track album produced by Markus Myrie, features hits such as ‘Prominence’ by Bugle and ‘Stay True’ by Popcaan to name a few. While ‘Passport Riddim’ produced by Pryme Incorporated features lyrical heavyweights such as Teejay, MungaHonourable, Jahvallni, ZJ Liquid, and newcomer Tajji Don.
‘My Letter to you’, now number four on the chart, is produced by Dynasty Records and Attomatic Records featuring Vybz Kartel, Rytikal, Squash, Rygin King, and Ding Dong. ‘Black Woman’ by Vybz Kartel and Ding Dong’s ‘Born Winner’ are top contenders featured on the album. Closing out the Hapilos Monthly Reggae Album Top 5 chart for October is ‘Street Shots 2021: Garrison's Anthem’ now in 5th place.
