Gussman
Gussman (born Rasnegus Reynolds) is a Jamaican-born singer and songwriter who grew up in a household heavily influenced by music as his father was a Rastafarian and a lover of drums, and his mother was a devoted Christian.
This early exposure to music and performing led to him becoming an avid lover of entertainment and dancing and to him being the ‘life of the party’ at social gatherings. Wanting to combine his music and entertainment interest into a career, Gussman pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Hospitality Management at the University of the West Indies Centre for Hospitality and Tourism in the Bahamas.
His peers and Lecturers quickly recognised his engaging personality and talent, and this led to him being nominated and elected (uncontested) to the Students’ Guild as the Entertainment Manager with the responsibilities to organise all the events and fund-raising activities on the campus. Upon completing his degree, Gussman’s first job was as the Entertainment Supervisor for Sunset Jamaica Grande Hotel (now Moon Palace Jamaica) and Beaches Ocho Rios which is a part of the Sandals Resorts brand.
As a lover of cultures and travel, Gussman left jamaica to further pursue his career in hospitality. He first went to California to work in a luxury resort near the LAX airport and a few years later migrated to the United Kingdom, where he started his family and focused on his career as a Hotel Manager at an exclusive boutique hotel.
However, with the pulse of music and entertainment still beating in his veins, Gussman teamed up with his sister Kizzy and her son Bronco in 2018 to form the New Wavez Entertainment label- focusing on music production and artiste development. The label has already worked with local and international artistes such as , Steff London, Chronic Law, BxdBxss, LaaLee, Popcaan, Cristaley and Dutchavelli.
In 2022, at the time of the pandemic, Gussman became stuck in Jamaica after travelling there to visit his family and oversee the label’s operations. With the added time on the island, he decided to “test his skills“ in the label’s in-house studio. His first song, “Oh saucy”, was so impressive that the label immediately decided to make and release a video alongside the song in April 2022. His second single, “God mi fear”, is a stark thematic contrast to his first single and continues to show the creativity and versatility of the artiste.
His 3rd release Roll up, a very upbeat single referencing Jamaica’s and dancehalls lavish partying lifestyle and how it’s filled with vibes further shows his creativity and uniqueness.
Buoyed by his love for music and entertainment and the successes of his singles, Gussman is set to continue making an indelible mark in the local and international music scene.
